I’ve been in creation mode for a couple of weeks. Last week, I started feeling really run down, but in good old Josée fashion, I kept pushing myself. By Wednesday, it felt like I was coming down with a cold, yet I told myself, just a few more bundles and then I’ll stop.
And then, all of a sudden, my dad popped into my mind. I asked out loud: “Papa, are you there?”
For context, my father passed away 42 years ago. It’s only been in the past decade that I’ve leaned on him for support.
And so, he answered: “Yes, I am.”
Me: “How are you?”
Papa: “I’m good. I just wanted to say that I’m very proud of you, but you are pushing yourself too hard. You are doing too much. You need to watch your health.”
OK, I know — was that really him or just my inner voice? I like to believe it was him, so I’m going with that!
I listened, because when I don’t, the Universe usually gives me a kick in the derrière. “Oh yeah Josée, you don’t want to listen? Well, OK.” BAM — a flu, a fall, insomnia, etc.
So, I acknowledged that if I kept going, I’d be in trouble. I turned to my go-to ritual for when I feel run down or like I’m coming down with something.

Cold-Busting Healing Bath Ritual
When you feel the first signs of a cold, a healing bath can be a powerful ally. This ritual combines purifying salts, immune-supporting essential oils, and botanicals for comfort and restoration.
You’ll Need:
- 1 cup of Epsom salts for a muscle-soothing boost
- Essential oils (blend into 1 tbsp of salts first):
- 6 drops Tea Tree
- 6 drops Lavender
- 4 drops Eucalyptus
- 3 drops Mandarin
- Botanicals: Calendula • Sage • Lavender • Fresh Rose Petals (in a muslin bag)
- Crystals: Clear Quartz • Amethyst • Rose Quartz in the water | Selenite nearby
- Candles
No Epsom salts? Use 1 cup of pink Himalayan salt instead to:
- Relax your body through heat and minerals (sodium, potassium, calcium).
- Support detoxification and circulation.
- Create a grounding, restorative ritual space when combined with your oils.
Steps:
- Fill your bath with warm water, as hot as you can tolerate.
- Add the salts, essential oils, and botanicals.
- Place your crystals in and around the tub.
- Light some candles
As you soak, breathe deeply and repeat the affirmation:
“I release what no longer serves me. I welcome light, healing, and renewal.”
✨ Soak for a maximum of 20 minutes, otherwise you may become a little woozy and unstable when coming out of the tub. You can also play your favourite meditation music to help you relax and release further.
Afterwards, slip into cozy socks and blankets, letting your body continue to rest and heal. Be prepared to sweat! You may want to place a towel on top of your bedsheet.

Making Bath Rituals Your Own
Every healing bath can be customized depending on your needs:
- For stress relief: Lavender • Chamomile • Rose Quartz
- For grounding: Cedar • Vetiver • Smoky Quartz
- For energy: Citrus oils • Rosemary • Citrine
There’s something timeless about soaking in warm water. Across cultures and traditions, the bath has been seen not only as a way to cleanse the body, but also as a ritual for the soul. Healing baths combine natural elements — salt, botanicals, crystals, and essential oils — to create a sanctuary of relaxation, release, and renewal.

Why Healing Baths Work
Physical Relief: Warm water relaxes tense muscles, improves circulation, and supports detoxification. Additions like mineral-rich salts or immune-supporting botanicals can enhance these benefits.
Emotional Balance: A ritual bath invites stillness, grounding, and reflection — perfect for reducing stress and anxiety.
Energetic Cleansing: Crystals and herbs amplify the intention of the ritual, helping to clear stagnant energy and restore balance to mind, body, and spirit.
The key is to blend salt, botanicals, oils, and crystals with your intention — letting the water become both a physical and spiritual medicine.
When we treat our baths as rituals, they become more than self-care — they become acts of healing, renewal, and connection to our deeper selves.
Happy soaking! 🛁✨
